Cook like a Top Chef in Rocky Point

Visitors and residents of Rocky Point are very fortunate in that we have a renowned Chef, right here in our midst, willing to share his culinary skills with us mere novices.

With his friendly demeanor, charming good looks, and contemporary style of cooking, Chef Mickey has warmed the hearts and satisfied the pallets of many a visitor to his restaurant, “Mickey’s Place.”

altSeveral months ago, in what I consider a stroke of marketing genius, he began an inexpensive weekly cooking class in his restaurant’s kitchen and has since developed quite a following of home cook enthusiasts.

Mickey settled in Rocky Point nine years ago after a 25 year stretch as an executive chef in Las Vegas. He is a master in the kitchen and his dishes are diverse and delectable, incorporating all the wonderful local ingredients Peňasco has to offer.
I personally had the pleasure of attending two of his cooking classes and have to admit that I also now consider myself a Mickey aficionado.
In my first class I learned how to make Stuffed Shrimp with Chipotle Sauce. The shrimp was stuffed with a mouth watering cream cheese mixture with incredible flavors that just exploded in your mouth with every bite.alt
Chile Rellenos with Spanish Sauce was my second triumph.  Also amazing!  Both dishes were surprisingly simple to recreate at home and believe me my family really enjoyed them. The classes were so laid back and everyone had such a great time. Best of all we got to sit down together afterwards and eat what we created. Yum, yum, yum, hungry yet?
Whether you live in Rocky Point or are just visiting for the first time, I definitely recommend you add Chef Mickey’s cooking class to your bucket list.
